Altaris Suite
The Île Saint-Louis suite is named for the island it faces — the quieter, more considered of the two islands in the heart of Paris, the one whose inhabitants have always preferred depth to spectacle. The suite occupies 148m² on the seventh floor of the Seine-facing elevation. A riverside terrace, cantilevered above the water's northern embankment, can be accessed directly from the principal salon — a room whose walls are dressed in vegetable-tanned leather panels by Hermès Leathers in a palette of tobacco and pale wheat. The book-lined study beyond the salon was furnished in collaboration with a Left Bank antiquarian — twelve running metres of leather-bound French literature and philosophy, curated over two years. The master bedroom faces due east; the Statuario Venato marble bathroom, due south, positions its freestanding copper soaking tub to face Notre-Dame's western towers across the water. A dedicated butler manages the suite throughout the day and night.
