The Regent

The Regent is a room that understands theatre. On the eighth floor of the northern elevation, the principal salon's three floor-to-ceiling windows frame the Royal Opera House at close range — the Corinthian portico, the sculptural programme above the loggia, the copper-green mansard catching morning and evening light in entirely different ways. The ceiling of the salon is the suite's primary architectural statement: original Regency plasterwork friezes — vine, laurel, and theatrical mask — restored over eleven months by a specialist London conservator to their original polychrome detail. The walls are hung with antique theatrical drawings and stage designs sourced from a London auction over three years. The Breccia Capraia marble bathroom — rose-veined stone against a floor of Nero Marquina — positions its freestanding copper bath to face the window and the portico beyond. A grand piano in the salon, tuned monthly, is available for guests on request.
