The Siamese

The Siamese is a room that understands ceremony. On the eighth floor of the northern elevation, the principal salon's three floor-to-ceiling windows frame the golden spires of Wat Phra Kaew at close range — the gilded chedi, the mythological guardians at the temple entrance, the copper-green roof catching morning and evening light in entirely different ways. The ceiling of the salon is the suite's primary architectural statement: original hand-lacquered Benjarong ceramic panels — lotus, kinnara, and celestial guardian — restored over eleven months by a specialist conservator from the Office of Traditional Arts to their original polychrome gilding. The walls are hung with antique Siamese court drawings and temple rubbings sourced from a Bangkok auction over three years. The Kaen Kham sandstone bathroom — warm amber stone against a floor of dark teak — positions its freestanding copper soaking tub to face the window and the gilded spires beyond. A traditional khim dulcimer in the salon, tuned monthly, is available for guests on request.
